So the Dexter panel at SDCC today unveiled the new promo trailer with a first look at season five. Looks like it does indeed pick up right where season 4 left off; there are severe repercussions coming from the Trinity Killers farewell gift, and Quinn appears to be picking up right where Doakes left off. Dark times for the dark passenger.

Both at the panel and in the video, Michael C. Hall looked to be in great shape after beating cancer. Also interesting that they lifted the “conscience is a killer” tagline from season 6 of The Shield. Dexter season 5 begins on Showtime September 26, 2010.

Here’s episode 7 of Dexter season 4, Slack Tide. Dexter screws up massively, and manages to get Quinn to pick up where Doakes left off. Also, Trinity is getting weirder. Really good episode.

Here’s the 6th episode of Dexter season 4, If I Had a Hammer. Dexter finally meets Trinity! I pretty much give up trying to guess where the season is going, at this point, but definitely want to see more of the two of them. Also, Rita kind of redeems herself…a little.

Here’s episode 5 of Dexter season 4, Dirty Harry. All i can say is, Rita really is the most unlikable character in the history of good teevee shows. I’ve never liked her, but she’s become completely fucking intolerable this season. Fingers crossed for John Lithgow killing her, and maybe we can get an in-head appearance from the ghost of Lila.

Watch Dex Takes a Holiday, the 4th episode of Dexter season 4. The season is off to a great start, and without going into spoilers, there’s a pretty amazing cliffhanger ending…so much so, that it’s pretty open to interpretation what exactly happened. All I know is somebody’s dead (…i think.)

Here’s episode 3 of Dexter season 4, Blinded by the Light. Enjoy. Another great episode, maintaining season 4’s superiority over the relatively weak season 3. John Lithgow remains uber-fucking scary, and deserves his own Trinity Killer spin-off series. Dexter’s pretty much in awe of him, too, at this point.

Also, Showtime/Sho.com will be running a new, animated prequel series Dexter: Early Cuts, starting Sunday October 25th. Presented in a style similiar to the recent Watchmen and Marvel motion comics, Early Cuts will cover all new, never before told, stories from three of Dexter’s first victims. The series consists of twelve episodes (one each week), with each victim receiving four, two minute episodes. Hopefully they spent some money on this, because the Dark Defender web series from 2 seasons ago wasn’t very impressive…it was weak by fan-made content standards.

Dexter and Doakes, together again

Entertainment Earth is advertising a new, exclusive, two pack of action figures featuring Dexter and the late, great Sgt. Doakes, based on their appearances from the last episodes of the fantastic season 2.

I’m buying it, not only to encourage them to make a Lila figure, but also because Doakes was awesome. If they decided to bring Eric King back as an in-head representation of Dexter’s dark passenger (like Harry/James Remar sort-of is, now), i’d be comepletely ok with that.

Watch the second episode of Dexter season 4, “Remains to be Seen.” Picks up exactly where last week’s premiere cliffhanger left off, and no, Dexter doesn’t get off easy. This is a great episode, like last week, with lots of hints as to where the season may go. Also, John Lithgow’s Trinity Killer continues to be scary as fuck.

Watch the first episode of Dexter season 4, “Living the Dream.” Great kick-off to a new season, this looks really promising. Might even give season 2 a run for its money, which is amazing considering they’ve handicapped the show by saddling Dexter with a wife and new baby.

John Lithgow’s Trinity Killer is a very scary guy. Can’t wait to see where they go with him.
